Dear Hunnewell,
Thank you to the the Hunnewell Hawk, who made a guest appearance at our first official walk-to-school day in the new Hunnewell. There was such great energy this morning! Thank you to Mr. Ligon and Ms. Guldstrand for organizing the event!
I also want to thank Sara Sullivan and Katie Florio, our psychologists, who began what they hope to be an ongoing conversation about social emotional learning in school and ways to carry that work into the home. Stay tuned for more information on next steps including newsletters, resources and additional parent coffees on specific topics. Please know you can and should always reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any concerns about your child socially, emotionally, or academically. They should be your first point of contact. As the teacher of record, they want to hear directly from you and are more than willing to connect you to additional resources if necessary.
Earlier today, I let the parents in 3D know that Rose Garron, a TLC teaching assistant, will be taking over as Cecily’s long-term substitute when she goes out on maternity leave at the end of next week. Rose has been a part of our team for the past three years. She has her BA in Elementary Education from St. Anselm’s and has her certification in Massachusetts. She knows all of the third graders and will make an excellent addition to the third grade team!
At the end of last week, I also learned that Samantha Tremlett has returned from leave and will be working solely at Upham for the remainder of this year. I am working with HR to see what we can do to cover the need we have for a social worker. Stay tuned!
Our fourth graders will take the English Language Arts MCAS on Thursday and Friday this week. We know that they have worked hard all year and will do their very best!
The next few days are looking pretty rainy. We will take any opportunity to get the students outside, if possible. As evidenced this weekend, sunnier and warmer days are headed our way!
