Dear Sprague Community,
We had a good turnout for our Walk to School Day today. 182 students participated. There will be one more Walk to School Day in April on the 29th.
The BIG GAME is almost here. Please join us if you can for a fun night of basketball, food, and school spirit. The 5th grade committee is still looking for some 4th grade parents to help out and run the concessions on Thursday night. I am happy to announce that the school budget for next year has been approved at Town Meeting. You may or may not be aware that the approved budget contained a World Language pilot program in the elementary schools. Sprague will be one of the pilot sites, along with Hardy. We have a committee of teachers who have been working together to plan for the implementation of this pilot beginning next year. As of now, the plan is to hire a teacher and a teacher/coordinator. There will be careful planning and development of curriculum so that the program includes content enriched instruction in the target language. The language has not yet been chosen. The committee has been working with a consultant, Helena Curtain, who will be coming back to Wellesley later in the spring. We plan to offer a parent night when Helena is here so that parents can learn more about our plans and the benefits of such a program for our children. I will let you know when that date has been chosen.
