Dear Sprague Community,
It was a FABULOUS day for Field Day! Many thanks to our wonderful PE teacher, Margaret Flitsch for her work in planning and setting up all the fun activities. Thanks to the many parent volunteers without whom the day would not have been possible. And, lastly thanks to our teachers who help make the day so fun! The teachers played the 5th graders in the annual Whiffle Ball game in the gym at 2 PM today. Although it was tighter than some years, the teachers did prevail!
Speaking of Ms. Flitsch, she has asked that I share the sign up sheet for summer garden work. Ms. Flitsch works with the Garden Committee to plant and tend the crops here at Sprague. Please consider signing up for a week during the summer. It’s hard to find good farmers!

I know you join me in wishing Sharon Kahn, our school nurse of 16 years all the best in her retirement. Sharon will retire as of the last day of school. I am pleased to announce that Christine Babicz will be our new school nurse. Christine is an experienced school nurse who has been working in the Medway Public Schools. She is excited to join us and will be here M-F each week.
You may have seen Learning Center teacher Kati Okoshi and 3rd grade teacher Jen Lundbohn around the school and noticed they will soon be having babies. Both are due in late June and we are so happy for them. Kati Okoshi will welcome her second child and Jen Lundbohn will welcome her first.
For those who are new to Sprague, you are all invited to be here for the 5th grade Clap Out on the last day at 11:50 AM. (We have a 12:00 dismissal on June 20, our last day.) Students line the hallways to clap and high five all the fifth graders as they take one last lap around the Sprague hallways. We also have a fun assembly on the last day with a slide show from Field Day and a special Summer Reading Video from our teachers! Don’t forget to check out the Summer Reading blog on the library site!

If you are moving from the Sprague neighborhood and your children will attend a different school next year, please let us know in the office (if you haven’t already). This is very important as we need signed releases from each family to be able to send school records to the new schools. It is also important for us to know who will not be returning for school planning purposes. Thank you.
Yearbooks will be distributed to students on the last day of school. Special thanks go to Yearbook Chairs Jen Bowman and Lisa Neighbors. The Sprague Yearbook is second to none and a real keepsake! (It is also A LOT of work, so THANKS!)
This summer, we will once again go paperless! All school information for the start of the 2018-2019 school year will be online. Parents will receive an email when the Powerschool Parent Portal opens in early August. Once you log on, you will be asked to read items and provide necessary permissions. When that is complete, you will be able to see the name of your child’s teacher. We will not be mailing this information out in a letter. You will also be directed to the “Back to School” folder on the Sprague page of the district website. We are in the process of updating documents for the 2018-2019 school year. We will post grade level supply lists by July 1 for your convenience. Please note that some individual teachers may ask for additional items in August.
Date to remember:
June 19: Grade 5 Farewell Celebration at 9 AM
June 20: Last Day of School—11:50 Clap Out—12:00 dismissal
