Dear Sprague,

Hello.  As the active planning continues for everyone, I do hope you are able to find and celebrate those moments of pure joy that remind us all how important it is to stop and smell the roses.  One small moment that made me genuinely smile today was when I dropped my dog off at doggie daycare and he jumped like a deer to the front door to play with his friends while leaving me in the dust.

Many details continue to be discussed and vetted regarding the reopening plans.  My goal with this communication is to provide some small updates as best as I can knowing there are plenty of details to come.

Kindergarten Days

  • Typically our incoming kindergarten students begin their school year with approximately 2 weeks of ½ school days

  • This being a very unique year, all incoming kindergarten students will begin their school year with full days along with their grades 1-5 peers

  • Please note September 15th (Cohort A) and September 16th (Cohort B) are scheduled ½ days for all students

  • September 17th (Cohort A)/18th (Cohort B) are the first full days for all students

Before School Program

  • Wellesley Public Schools has intentions of hosting the Before School Program at schools, if possible

  • However, please note that staffing this program may be a challenge

  • I am currently working on securing staff with the hopes of hosting the Sprague Before School Program

  • More information to follow soon

Parent Intent Survey

  • Closing date was yesterday – August 20th

  • Once this data is collected, it will allow for further planning and development of cohort assignments

  • If you have questions or thoughts regarding intent, please do not hesitate to contact me

Parent Powerschool Portal Access

  • To allow for further planning and complete the analysis of the Parent Intent Survey, parent access to the Powerschool Portal will be given in early September – specific date still to be determined

  • This access will identify teacher placement and cohort assignments

School Supply Lists and Welcome Letters

  • To continue the important focus on health and safety, classroom teachers have redesigned school supply lists

  • The vision with this year’s school supplies is to create an individual student toolkit that each student has access to and is his/hers and his/hers only (i.e. elimination of class supplies)

  • This toolkit will support health and safety and will also be available if we quickly need to revert to a remote setting

  • These newly designed supply lists ask for the basics (i.e. pencils, pens, glue sticks, scissors) allowing for an individual toolkit for each student

  • These supply lists will be posted on the Sprague main webpage in early September following the above Powerschool Parent Portal access timeline

Zoom Meeting

  • I look forward to hosting a live Zoom meeting for Sprague families in the near future

  • In addition to our planning for the hybrid model and cohort design, we are also redesigning Sprague processes and procedures

  • The specific day and time for this Zoom meeting is contingent on additional planning details

  • I look forward to seeing everyone soon via Zoom
