Dear Sprague Grade Two Families,

It is with excitement that I deliver a previously shared message from last night’s School Committee meeting.  Dr. Lussier made the announcement that as of December 7th, our WPS grade two elementary school students will return to a full four day in-person model.  This news is welcomed by all.

With December 7th right around the corner, there is work that needs to be done at Sprague in order to welcome our grade two students back to the four day in-person model.  In order to maintain safety requirements, two of our three grade two classrooms will need to relocate to another classroom space within Sprague.  Due to class size in both 2BH and 2KC (15 and 16 students), each of those classrooms will be relocated – one classroom to the art room and the other to either the music room or the library.  Each of those identified spaces will allow us to maintain safety requirements and safe distancing.  Which of these locations is still being determined as part of my collaboration with the grade two teachers and other staff members.  Of course when determined, the grade two teachers and I will actively communicate your child’s newly identified classroom space.

Please note that WPS is committed to the transition from the hybrid model to an in-person four day model for our grade two students.  Remote instruction will continue on Wednesdays.  If an absence is necessary due to an illness or the need to quarantine, asynchronous learning will be employed as remote learning through Zoom will no longer be an option outside of remote Wednesdays.  Additional information will be forthcoming on this topic.

I would like to thank the grade two teachers for their dedication to their students and the hard work done through the hybrid model for these past months.  Their energy and efforts are recognized and celebrated.  In addition, thank you to the special educators and specialists for their great efforts in support of our students’ success.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.  The grade two team and I, along with the remainder of the Sprague staff, would like to welcome our grade two students back to their in-person classroom community of learners.  Welcome home, grade two!

Respectfully,

Leigh
