Dear Sprague,

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the beautiful weather!

The Superintendent’s recent communication regarding the newly updated guidance is encouraging for many reasons.  This is something worth celebrating!

While happily accepting the guidance, I am also digesting it myself to better understand it in terms of our Sprague practices.  The following is what was shared with students today regarding the new guidance:

1.  When outside, masks can be removed.  The following are examples of Sprague’s outside events:  morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, any recess periods, PE class, any outdoor classroom instruction, outdoor snack, outdoor lunch.  With masks being removed when outside, you are encouraged to have students where clothing with pockets in order to store their mask.  It is also recommended that students bring an extra mask in the case that the original becomes lost or left behind when removed.  Of course if any student would like to keep his/her mask on during any outdoor times, that student is always encouraged to do so and will be supported in doing so.

2.  Adults and masks – If social distancing cannot be maintained between adults, adults are asked to wear masks when outside.

3.  Current Practices – At this time, Sprague will resume its current practices (both indoors and outdoors) until determined otherwise.  Outdoor practices include:  morning routines/locations by grade level/class, recess zones during recess times, and lunch routines.  Again, if a student so chooses, masks can be removed when outdoors.

4.  Masks Indoors –  At this time, masks are required for all people when indoors.

As always, we appreciate your flexibility and support with any and all adjustments to practices.  Please ask any questions.

Respectfully,

Leigh
