Dear Sprague Families,

Sprague hosted its first all-school assembly since 2019 this past week!  We gathered outside, with masks on, as several fifth-grade students presented the history of Indigenous Peoples Day.  In addition, Ms. J held her annual Summer Reading Raffle.  It was a wonderful morning!

Please enjoy your holiday weekend!

Walk-to-School Day!

  • We logged 243 student walkers/bikers – wow!

  • Please join us for our November Walk-to-School Day

Surveillance Testing Begins

  • Sprague has completed its first surveillance testing experience this past week

  • I am pleased to share that it went well, was relatively quick with minimal interruptions, and smooth

  • Please note that surveillance testing will be a regular weekly occurrence happening on Thursdays at Sprague

  • This surveillance testing is a pool testing scenario

  • The results take 24 to 48 hours to receive

  • If you have not given consent and would like to do so, please contact me directly

  • As always, volunteers are needed to help make this event a success!

  • Please keep an eye out in Sunday’s Pulse for the Sign Up Genius

Library Volunteers Needed, Please

  • Sprague students love to read!

  • We are beginning to see 500-600 books circulating a week in the Sprague library, which is so exciting!

  • Ms. J., the Sprague Librarian, could use some help getting those books back on the shelves (in the proper place!)

  • She is looking for 2 to 3 parent volunteers who could commit to coming into the library weekly for 30-60 minutes to help with shelving books

  • If you are interested please contact Ms. J. at jauniskiss@wellesleyps.org.&nbsp

  • Note: WPS is requiring all in-school volunteers to be fully vaccinated and to be masked while in the building

Garden Volunteers Needed, Please

  • Calling all gardeners and nature lovers!

  • Do you want to spend 2 hrs of your Saturday morning outdoors with us?

  • Not only are we cleaning the garden in and around, but we are also planting garlic!

  • (Rain date: Sat Oct. 30th)

  • Time: 10am-Noon

  • Click on the link for details and sign up. https://tinyurl.com/gardenfall2021

  • Feel free to email SpragueGreenTeam@gmail.com if you have any questions

Extra Masks

  • A respectful reminder, please….

  • Please send students to school with extra masks (i.e 5 in a ziplock bag in their backpack, even a few in their lunch boxes)

  • The purpose is to replace a mask with a clean mask in case a student’s mask becomes soiled, wet, or breaks

  • Chris Babicz is handing out > 25 student masks per day

  • Unfortunately, that is not sustainable

  • Thank you – your help is always appreciated!
