  • Description: The Food Waste Reduction Club is a group hoping to improve the problem of immense food waste within the school and local community. The club has placed a designated bin outside of the cafeteria where students can place any unwanted, wrapped food items. These products are then brought to the Newton “freedge” (free fridge) which is open 24/7 to the public. Furthermore, there are food donation bins placed around the school with a list of the most wanted items. Students and teachers can bring unused and unopened food from home, which may have otherwise been thrown out, and put the items into these bins to be donated. The club members will help sort and bag this donated food which will then be brought to the Wellesley Food Pantry. The founders and leaders of this club hope to incorporate compost into the Wellesley High School lunch process at some point.

Not only does KHK hope to help underprivileged students but we also hope to raise awareness and encourage students to get involved in helping our peers from other communities.

  • Description: Latin and the classical tradition inform our gatherings, but topics of conversation extend beyond the ancient world into later eras all the way up to present day and include elements of interest in literary, philosophical, historical, political, musical, and athletic realms. Students who are not enrolled in Latin are welcome as members, and along with Latin students, enjoy cinnamon coffee cake, chocolate and cinnamon babka, and chocolate chip muffins. With the guidance, leadership, and assistance of the Wellesley Town Landscaper. Latin Club has installed a garden on the lawn outside the Latin 146 classroom. It is a place for social gatherings of all students, often for lunch. Latin Club members have labelled the plants with their Latin botanical names. We welcome one and all to enjoy the unique ambience the Latin Garden, or Carmen Hortulanum, Garden Poem, as we call it.

  • Description: The mission of the Wellesley Chapter of the National Honor Society is to continue to improve the academic climate at Wellesley High School. To qualify for NHS, students must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.70, unrounded. (E.g., 3.69 is too low.) Membership is not based exclusively on academic achievement; evidence of significant leadership, service, and character is also essential. Since grades are one standard used for membership in the National Honor Society, a junior or sophomore who transfers to Wellesley High School, may be considered for the Honor Society Induction in the fall of the next academic year. A student who transfers into the High School as a senior (including the summer before senior year) may not apply. In September, all Wellesley High School juniors and seniors who are not already in the National Honor Society and who have an unweighted Wellesley High School GPA of 3.70 (unrounded) will be invited to apply and will be sent a letter of invitation. Members are required to complete a minimum of 20 service hours and participate in at least two National Honor Society service activities each year to be considered an active member. Members who fall below the standards, which were the basis for their selection, shall be warned in writing by the chapter advisors and given a reasonable amount of time to correct the deficiency. In the case of a major violation of the school's code of conduct or a criminal violation, a member may be removed from the Honor Society after a hearing is held with the faculty council. All junior members are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.70 and complete a minimum of 20 hours of service during their junior year to retain their active membership status in September of their senior year. Failure to do so will result in dismissal. A written description of the selection and dismissal procedures is available to all interested parties upon request.

They will also have the opportunity to explore how mortgages work including how your credit can affect your ability to get a loan.   • Description: Conquer your fear of heights and become a better climber in Rock Climbing Club! Rock Climbing Club will be a great way to experience thrills, try a new sport, make new connections, and get great exercise. We will host monthly meetings at local rock climbing centers Central Rock Gym Framingham and Watertown, as well as intermittent after school meetings learning bouldering and top rope climbing techniques. Safety is a priority and we will be teaching safe techniques and habits to all members in addition to the safety requirements established by the gym. We'll also host fundraiser sale events to help pay for day passes and memberships for our members to access the gym.
