Fiske Families,

Picture of Blake Lothian

A huge Fisektastic thank you to WHS Junior Blake Lothian  for coming to Fiske to talk about Growth Mindset and the power of yet.  Since the age of 5 Blake has been enamoured by car racing. Blake started go-kart racing at 5 years old. At age 11, he attended Camp Motorsports in Clover, Virginia to begin training.  Since that time he has focused on learning how to become the best racer he can be through practice, practice and more practice. In the spring of 2019 Blake was selected to join the NASCAR Rev Racing Drive for Diversity Driver Development program. Blake spent the summer training at the Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Rev Racing D4D program.  Blake came to Fiske on Wednesday to share his journey and talk about how Growth Mindset was a big part of his success. As one fourth grader put it, “This was the best assembly we ever had.”

Thank you for all the candy donations.  Although we did not win the $1,000.00 for our PTO, we did collect 470 lbs of candy for the troops.  The children were very excited to hear how many pounds of candy we were able to send to the troops.

Picture Retake Day

If you would like your child’s picture retaken, or your child was not here on picture day, picture retake day will be on Thursday, December 5th.  For more information please see the below attachment.Retake Day Instructions 2019.pdf

Save the Date for PTO Speakers

This year the PTO Board has been working to have speakers present at each PTO meeting.  In September we had Superintendent, Dr. David Lussier and the School Committee present on the HHU project. In October we had the new Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Dr. Charmie Curry talk with parents about her new role and work moving forward.  We are very pleased to announce our November and December speakers are:

  • Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. Our School Psychologist Sharon Grossman will be speaking with parents about childhood anxiety and heightened stress during the holiday seasons.

  • Friday, December 13th at 8:45 a.m. Dr. Mark Klein from HRS will come to speak with parents about managing technology and screen time in the home.

More information will follow but please mark your calendars and join us for these two informative meetings.
