Fiske Families,

Please remember that Thursday, November 11th is Veteran’s Day and there will be no school.

Diwali is a five-day festival of lights. Lights are ignited to mark the victory of light over darkness. Each year several of our Fiske Families include the Fiske Staff in their celebration by sharing delicious traditional Indian food.  Thank you to the Bixby,  Bedi, Bubna, Ennacheril, Kapoor, Vinodkumar and Yadav families for providing these special treats for the Fiske Staff. We wish all our families great happiness during their celebration of Diwali.

Thank you to all who attended the Fiske PTO Meeting. There are lots of exciting things happening with the PTO,  such as the auction, STEAM Fair,  Bingo Night, snack cart for teachers  and school spirit store.  Please read the Fiske PTO Monday Memo to find ways that you can volunteer for these activities.

Reminder:  Please remember to pack extra masks in your child’s backpack. Many students require at least one mask change during the school day. The school has limited quantities available for staff and students.

Reporting Absences/Change of Dismissal

If your child is going to be absent or have a change of dismissal, you can now enter the information on the Fiske Website by clicking the red button that is on the Fiske webpage. Please make every effort to use this new procedure to report absences and change of dismissals before 9:00 a.m. so the nurse and teachers can be alerted to any changes.

Assembly

This week we had an all school assembly on the Fiske Fundamentals and the importance of being kind to one another.  The story that was read was The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig. This is a story about how one boy’s kindness made a classmate feel included and valued.

WPS VACCINATION CLINICS

We are excited to announce that WPS will be partnering once again with Pelmeds Pharmacy to offer two COVID-19 vaccination clinics for students ages 5-11 after school on November 16th and 17th at the Sprague Elementary School.  We hope to accommodate approximately 700 students across both of these days for their first dose.  (Second doses will be scheduled in December.) The District will be sharing the registration link for these clinics in the coming days.

Have a lovely weekend!
