Popsicle Playdate and Chill Out

Dear Sprague Community,
I continue to meet the wonderful people who make up this fabulous school community. I am so impressed with the kindness and welcoming words from everyone I have met so far. I look forward to getting to know all of you this year! I will give my first big ‘thank you’ to Lennie Becker, who has been helping me get acclimated. I am sure you all know how lucky you are to have such a gem in the office each and every day! This was apparent to me right from the start.
Parents can expect to receive two mailings sometime after August 6th. One is a packet of information from the PTO and the other will have your child’s classroom assignment for the 2014-2015 school year. I am attaching two flyers for two separate events prior to the start of school on August 27th. The “Chill Out” on August 20th is for students in grades 1-5 and will take place outdoors. The school building will not be open as the custodians have a very small window in which to clean the school this summer. In the event of bad weather, we will put the flag out front and have the event in the gym. If that is the case, I will send out a message ahead of time instructing those who come to enter the gym door on the side.  The other event is for kindergarten students, new students, and their families and will take place on August 26th. Kindergarten teachers have included instructions in the class assignment letters with details about a classroom visit on that day prior to the Popsicle Playdate outdoors at 3 PM. Kindergartners and new families will have the opportunity for a tour of the building on that day.
