Dear Sprague Community, I survived the Grade 5 vs. Faculty basketball game last Thursday. I saw teachers with skills and moves on the court. I saw kids who also had skills and moves. I even scored a basket!  But what I saw the most of, was Sprague H.E.A.R.T!!! It was wonderful to see so many students and families in attendance. The 5th graders won in a ‘nailbiter’ and displayed good sportsmanship, grace, and teamwork! It was one of those events that makes us all feel fortunate to be part of such a warm and cohesive school community. I am truly grateful to be here at Sprague with all of you. The welcome warm weather brings thoughts of the end of the school year. The year is flying by fast! After the April vacation, there are only 8 weeks left of school. You may even be having thoughts about your child’s placement for next year. We will continue to welcome your thoughts and value your input when making decisions about class assignments. Please remember that our staff is charged with a very complicated balancing act in developing class lists that both attempt to match student learning styles with teaching styles and also create heterogeneous groupings that foster academic, social, and emotional growth. We do our best to place students in groupings where each one has friends and classmates with whom they can work on the development of those skills and attributes. I will send a Sprague parent input form in a separate email for parents who wish to share their written insights with our placement teams about how their children learn best. Please remember that we will not consider requests for individual teachers by name. If you choose to fill out a form, please be sure to return it NO LATER THAN MAY 1st . (I will send the form later in the week.) Fifth Grade Information Thursday, April 16th: Parent 1:1 Information evening and Student Showcase from 6:30-7:30pm in the Wellesley Middle School Cafeteria.
