Dear Sprague Community,
In a surprising turn of events, our Art teacher, Jen Stabnick let us know that she is relocating to Connecticut and resigning her position at Sprague. She shared that it was a very difficult decision and that she and her son will now be close to family in CT. We quickly advertised and garnered a highly competitive pool of applicants even in August. I think the word is out that Wellesley values the arts and is a great place to teach! I am happy to announce that Libby Belli will be our new Art teacher. Libby joins us with 2 years of experience teaching elementary school Art in Ashland and additional experience teaching Art for part of the year in Malden. She brings enthusiasm and a passion for Art education. We will surely miss Ms. Stabnick and continue to enjoy all of the beautiful art installations at Sprague that resulted from her commitment to art and our community for the past 16 years. Thanks for everything Jen!
I hope your children are getting excited about the start of school. Our custodians have been busy cleaning and our teachers are getting their rooms ready and planning for the first weeks of school. If you haven’t already taken a look at the Back to School Folder on our website, please do so. You will find supply lists, grade level welcome letters, the Sprague Insider’s Guide, the Elementary Handbook, and more.

Our Green Team works hard to facilitate recycling and food donations to support sustainable living habits. Please see the message below:
Help keep Sprague Green this school year! We need parent volunteers to reinforce good recycling habits in the cafeteria and to bring uneaten food to the Food Pantry! Through these efforts, we cut the amount of trash that ends up in the landfill by over half and help those that are food insecure. Please help by signing up below!

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 29th. It will be a half day with a 12:00 dismissal. As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, Sept. 3 in recognition of Labor Day and on Monday, Sept. 10 in recognition of Rosh Hashanah. The first full day for Kindergarten will be Sept. 11. Kindergartners and new families are invited to come to Sprague on Tuesday, August 28th between 2 and 3 PM to see their classrooms and have a popsicle playdate outside.
I can’t wait to see all the smiling faces on the first day!
