Dear Families,
Welcome to October. While the sky looks pretty dark and grey outside my window as I type this, I am happy to see sunshine too. It’s been a minute as the kids say. I hope the rain holds off for our football game against Weymouth.
This coming Thursday night is the annual Wellesley High School back to school night. It’s an exciting evening and the building literally buzzes with it each year. I’ll share with you what I tell the staff here so you can know what to expect.
I tell them it’s important to share something authentic about who they are so you can see the person and not just the teacher. I also tell them it’s fine to let them know how much they love what they do as they’re explaining the class a little. It’s a short amount of time to be in each class in order to keep the evening from being too long. Please know it is not the night to ask specific questions about your child. Each teacher will give you their contact information so you should definitely feel comfortable reaching out and finding a time to meet or call if you have specific questions.
I’ll look forward to seeing you all in what is a great night of the WHS community coming together in the name of caring for and educating your children.
Please be advised that the High School parking lot is small and all of our teachers will have already parked there by the time you arrive. There is limited parking on the street surrounding the high school, so my advice is to carpool if you must drive and to please be considerate of our neighbors who live next to the school and not park illegally in ways that could become unsafe. They are generous to us with all our day to day traffic, but this is an especially busy night. If you are looking to get some steps in you could meet some friends in the Donizetti parking lot behind the middle school and take a walk over together. A real pro tip is if you have an upperclassman who drives, make them drop you off and pick you up – and bring a friend or two! Did I mention the parking lot is small? Thanks for doing what you can.
