~Day 6

Everyone is to report to their Advisory to take the Panorama Survey. Teachers check your email for directions on how to implement the survey.

Ms. Lotoski’s study halls will be moved out of the cafeteria during the following times:  periods 2 & 5 will meet in room 221 and periods 3 & 4 will meet in the library.

Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this month? June is LGBTQ Pride Month, established to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals have had on the world.

Pride began as a recognized day in 1970 in New York City, commemorating the one year anniversary of LGBT people resisting the raid and arrest of LGBT friends and family that occurred at the Stonewall Inn. This practice of arrest was not uncommon because being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender was not legally allowed in any way.

Today, LGBT groups celebrate this special time with memorials for those lost to hate crimes and to HIV/AIDS, as well as with picnics, parties, and other group gatherings, culminating in a Pride Day parade in cities around the country and world.

We wish all people at WMS observing this joyous occasion a “Happy Pride.”

Today is an Early Release Day.  It will be an even day schedule.

The day will begin with Advisory then periods 1-7.  Please plan on leaving the school at the last bell.  There will be no club meetings and Intramurals are canceled.  Teachers will not be available to meet due to department meetings.  For those students heading uptown please remember to be considerate and mindful as you visit shops and restaurants.  Which means not crowding patrons when others are shopping and cleaning up after yourselves when finished eating.  Also, throw away all trash so as not to litter the street. It’s important as you are representing yourself and all of us at Wellesley Middle School.

The 8th Grade Chorus Concert is tomorrow night at 7 pm in the WMS auditorium and it’s free! This concert will benefit MSPCA Angell, an animal rescue and animal welfare charity.  If you’d like to help us raise money, look for signs around our school or the QR code in the concert program for our fundraising website.

Have a Great Day Everyone!
