~Day 1
On WCVB TV this morning WMS received the morning “Wake-Up Call” that was filmed earlier this year during meteorologist David Williams’ visit to 8th grade science classes.
The 6th and 7th grade chorus concert is tonight at 7 pm in the WMS auditorium and the air conditioning will be chilling! Come see a mashup of “Hey Soul Sister” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” by the 6th grade chorus as well as a bossa nova version of Sinatra’s “Fly Me To the Moon” by 7th grade chorus with the fabulous Gabriel Dupont on drums.
The grade 8 field trip is June 6th and 8th. Your parent/guardian must register you online for this trip. Anyone not registered, will not be able to attend. (Click here to register).
Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this month? June is LGBTQ Pride Month, established to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals have had on the world. Pride began in 1970 in New York City, commemorating the one year anniversary of LGBT people resisting the raid and arrest of LGBT friends and family that occurred at the Stonewall Inn. This practice of arrest was not uncommon because being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender was not legally allowed. Today, LGBT groups celebrate this time with memorials for those lost to hate crimes and to HIV/AIDS, as well as with picnics, parties, and other gatherings, culminating in a Pride Day parade in cities around the world. We wish all people at WMS observing this joyous occasion a “Happy Pride.”
Have a good day everyone!
