Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this weekend? Sunday evening begins the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the most important day in the Jewish Year. People over Bar/Bat Mitzvah age (around 13 years old) will do a fast, going without food or drink for 25 hours in order to spend time thinking about mistakes they have made in the past year, and ways they would like to improve in the coming one. People often spend the day at their Temple or Synagogue, and they end the holiday at sundown with a big “break fast” meal with family and friends. You can wish someone observing this holiday an “easy fast.” There are students and staff at WMS who will be observing this holiday. We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday an “easy fast.”
Have a good day everyone!
