The answer to yesterday’s Black History Month trivia question is Little Rock, AR, the city where nine Black students in 1957 fought for equal rights in schools.

Today’s trivia is a fun fact – Did you know that the first Black Doctor who took care of a US president was Charles B. Purvis?  Dr. Purvis supported President James Garfield after he was shot in 1881.

Attention Songlab members: the Jam is canceled for Monday.  Please check Google Classroom for more information.

Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this weekend? Saturday is the holiday of Lunar New Year and welcomes the Year of the Dragon.  Lunar New Year is the most celebrated holiday in China, Korea and East, and Southeast Asian countries. The holiday includes family-centered activities such as having a New Year’s Eve Feast, staying up on New Year’s Eve, visiting family and friends, eating special foods, and paying respect to ancestors. In some countries the celebration lasts for 2 weeks and ends on the 15th day of the New Year.

There are students at WMS who will be observing this holiday.  We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday, Happy New Year!

Have a good day everyone!
