Attention 8th graders: We are looking for 8th grade tour guides for the 5th grade parent/guardian WMS orientation on Tuesday night, March 25th between 6:30-8:30 pm. It’s a great opportunity for you to welcome new families to WMS and share your experiences.  If you are interested, please come down to the main office and submit your name for consideration. Planning has begun for the annual WMS Mini Marathon scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th. Part of the planning is creating t-shirts that students will wear during the run. We are looking for 6th and 7th grade designs in blue & yellow, and an 8th grade design which will be red. The 8th grade t-shirts will also have all your names on the back and will be worn for the end of year field trip. This is a great opportunity to show your school spirit! Submissions must be an original design on 8 1⁄2” x 11” paper and dropped off at the Main Office by Friday, March 28th. Any questions, stop by the Main Office, or speak with your Art teacher.

Any 8th graders interested in playing on the WMS tennis team this Spring should attend a meeting after school in Mr. Crowe’s room (231) next Wednesday, March 19th.  This meeting is only for 8th graders interested in tennis.

Anyone interested in signing up for the WMS Fencing Program this spring can pick up a sign-up form on the intramural board outside the cafeteria or in the main office. All forms need to be turned into Mr. Johnson no later than March 20th.  Any questions, please see Mr. Johnson.

Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating?  Today begins the Hindu celebration of Holi. Holi is also known as the Festival of Colors and is an annual festival celebrated on the day after the full moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna (early March). Holi is a symbol of the triumph of good over evil. It marks the start of spring and is also celebrated to give thanks for a good harvest. The festival revolves around putting color on each others’ faces and indulging in sweet delicacies that are made this day.  We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday, Happy Holi!

Have a good day everyone!
