Good Morning,

Today is Monday, March 9, 2020 .   Today is Day 2

Nurse’s Healthy Tip of the Day: You should wash our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Need help counting? Sing Happy Birthday twice!

For students interested in joining Spring Track, there will be a short informational Spring Track Meeting on Tuesday, March 10.  This 10 minute meeting will be in GYM A after school Tuesday and is open to all grades.

Please Note:  The Board Game Club will be cancelled today, March 9.

Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating?

Tonight starts the Jewish celebration of Purim and the Hindu celebration of Holi.

In Judaism, Purim celebrates the story of how Esther saved the Jews from the wicked Haman. Haman wanted to kill the Jews in ancient Persia. In order to celebrate Esther, people read about her  story, wear costumes, and eat special triangular cookies called a hamatashan which are shaped like Haman’s hat.

In Hinduism, Holi is known as the Festival of Colors and is an annual festival celebrated on the day after the full moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna (early March). Holi is a symbol of the triumph of good over evil. It marks the start of spring and is also celebrated to give thanks for a good harvest. The festival includes putting color on each others’ faces and indulging in sweets that are made this day.

There are students at WMS who will be observing these holidays.  We wish all people at WMS observing either holiday, Happy Holiday!

Thank you everyone and enjoy your day.
