~Day 5

Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this week? Today starts the Hindu festival of Diwali

Diwali is the 4 or 5-day festival of lights, and it is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists and Muslims as well. The festival signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil. The celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed. The festival typically extends over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu lunar month.

There are members of the WMS community who will be observing this holiday.  We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday, “Happy Diwali.”

There will be a school dance this Friday in Gym A from 7:00- 9:00.  Tickets will be $5.00 at the door.  Costumes are optional. I hope to see you there.

Any cross country runner that will be interested in participating in the State Meet, you can pick up the forms at our Main office today afterschool or during your lunch period.

Have a great day!
