~Lunch: 6, 7, 8
Ms. Fine’s Period 2, Block A, Drama class will meet in Room 335 today.
Today is our WMS Memorial Day Assembly which will take place during Period 3. After Period 2, Block A, all students will report directly to Advisory. Please wait there until your House, Cluster, or Team is called over the PA before heading to the Auditorium. Teachers please refer to the seating chart and Assembly instructions in Faculty Google Classroom. All students and staff must enter the Auditorium in complete silence and remain standing. This act is to show our respect to those who sacrificed their lives for our country. Also, as a reminder to all staff and students, there should be no food or drinks as well as laptops or iPads. Also, Unless there is a medical or religious reason, no hats or hoods should be worn during the Assembly.
To those Grade 8 students speaking in the Assembly and Grade 6 chorus, please listen to the announcement at 9:10 am to be called down to the Auditorium.
Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating starting this evening? This evening begins the Jewish holiday of Shavuot (Sha-voo-oat). Shavuot is the Jewish festival that commemorates the receiving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. On the eve of Shavuot, many Jews stay up all night studying Torah. The book of Ruth (from the Hebrew Bible) is traditionally read, and people celebrate by eating dairy foods. We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday, “Chag Sameach” (pronounced Chag Sa-may’-ach, using the guttural chh sound for ch).
This afternoon, all students must plan to leave the building immediately at the 2:29 pm dismissal bell. There will be no afternoon activities and therefore no Boston or Wellesley late buses. The library will also be closed after school.
Have a good day everyone!
Please note that the daily announcements are sometimes subject to change during the school day. When this happens the announcements will be updated on the website and on the video screen in the WMS lobby, but a new email will not be sent.
