Fiske Families,

Thank you to all who attend our PTO meeting today.  Dr. Charmie Curry came to discuss her new role as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Education.  Dr. Curry shared her experiences in the Boston Public Schools and her entry plan for her work here in Wellesley.  It was a pleasure to have Dr. Curry come to speak with the PTO and we look forward to working with her.

Please come join me for the next Principal’s coffee on Friday, October 25th at 8:45 a.m. in the library.  I look forward to our conversation around upcoming Fiske events and participating in a fun STEAM activity.

Next week is Massachusetts STEM week. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Sidell on Monday, October 21st to present the Picturing Science Exhibit from the American Museum of Natural History. This amazing opportunity comes to us from the Wellesley Education Foundation (WEF). Don’t forget to ask your child/children about the presentation.

Walk to School Day

Thank you Mrs. Gerst for another incredible Walk-to-School Day.   We had over 150 walkers. It was so nice to see all the students putting their best foot forward for our fun event.  The winners of our second walk are…2G(Ms. Gayner walked too!) Way to go 2G!

Parents, guardians and friends, we are excited to have you join us for our annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m. The parade route is as follows;  students will exit the building from the front school lobby and walk along the sidewalk in front of the school to the primary playground. The parade will conclude by circling the backfield and reentering the building through the back doors. The parade route will be marked by cones.  Fiske’s Student Council members will be leading the parade.

Please be aware that students should refrain from wearing masks, face paint or makeup and leave all props at home.

Please inform your child’s classroom teacher if your child will not be participating in the parade. There will be a fall activity in the library for students who will not be participating in the parade.

 BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

Did you know that Fiske participates in the Box Tops for Education Program?  Box Tops can be found on hundreds of products that we buy every day. Take a look through your kitchen cabinets and pantry – you just might find something with a Box Top on it. Box Tops do not have to be precisely trimmed, but be sure the expiration date is showing.  Box Tops for Education is also moving digital and offers options to scan your receipts directly into their app to give Fiske credit – it’s easy! Watch for more information on digital submissions in November; save your receipts or scan them through the app in the meantime! For a complete list of all participating products, please visit www.boxtops4education.com/Participating-Products-Page. Every unexpired Box Top is worth 10 cents and that adds up so quickly for our school.

It’s time to SEND IN your Box Tops! One class from grades K-2 and one class from grades 3-5 will earn an EXTRA RECESS REWARD for collecting the most Box Tops! Our next official submission deadline is October 30th, so please clip Box Tops from the products you already purchase for your household and send them in via backpack mail in an envelope or baggie. Be sure to label with your name and/or classroom so your class gets the credit! If you have already sent in Box Tops since the last classroom contest and remembered to include your name or classroom, you will receive credit for this new contest.  Every clip counts! Let’s see how many Box Tops we can collect for Fiske this month!

Have a wonderful weekend.
