Schofield School

Go Hawks
Dear Schofield Community,
Hello! I hope you are all enjoying your respective summers so far!
My name is Stephen Goodwin and I will be the Interim Schofield Principal for the 2025 – 2026 school year. I started this past Tuesday at Schofield and have begun to listen and learn on all fronts. Many thanks to Kristin, sublime Schofield secretary, and Scott, tremendous Head Custodian, for already answering at least 50 plus questions from me. As a brief aside, I previously served as the Sprague Principal from 2010 – 2014. Thus, I am very excited to return to the Wellesley Public Schools and more specifically work collaboratively with everyone that is part of the Schofield school community.
As I mentioned to some parties at Kindergarten Orientation and for those I bumped into at the Schofield Fun Run (and yes, I recall who passed me on the course!), I would be happy to meet with any of you this summer. I completely understand that summer schedules are busy. Having said that, if you would like to meet, just send me an email with a date/time (or two) and I will be sure to make it work on my end. I’m thinking no more than 15-20 minutes as your summer time is extremely valuable!
Thank you for perusing and please return to your regularly scheduled summer time programming!
Take care,
Stephen
P.S. – Huge kudos to Dan Donahue, superb Schofield Night Custodian, on his pending retirement next week. Dan has magnificently served the Wellesley Public Schools for 28 years, 15 of them at Schofield. Only having worked with Dan for three days, I can tell I missed a great one! We wish Dan (and his family) the best in retirement!
P.S.S. – Belated congratulations to the incredible Kathy Hood, Schofield Kindergarten Teacher, on her recent retirement. I had the pleasure of serving with Kathy on the WPS All Day Kindergarten Committee back in 2013 – 2014. She was a vital member of that committee that led to the formation of all day kindergarten for the district. More importantly, she shaped the lives of hundreds of Schofield five and six year olds for nearly 30 years. When I had the pleasure of visiting Schofield in mid June, the love and affection for Kathy was palpable. She will be missed immensely! And yes, I have already called her with a few questions (and she kindly didn’t ignore my call)! Thank you, Kathy, for all your passion and efforts on behalf of your Schofield students, colleagues and families. We wish you and your family the best in the years to come! Please visit!
