Dear Sprague Community, It appears that the cold and snow have arrived! With that in mind, I’d like to remind you that whenever the red, white, and blue flag with stars is out front, students will wait indoors before school. Students in grades K-1 wait in the cafeteria and students in grades 2-5 wait in the gym. Balls are not allowed in the gym during the before school time. Many teachers have also sent reminders about cold weather clothes. Students should bring snowpants and boots as well as a warm jacket, hat, and gloves when there is snow on the ground. We go out to recess whenever possible and use the 20 degree mark as our cutoff for when it is safe to have an outdoor recess. We also highly recommend putting students’ names in their jackets. You would be surprised how many jackets turn up in our lost and found without names on them! I know someone is looking for them, but we don’t know where to send them. Thanks for your help! Ms. H, our Art teacher while Ms. Stabnick is out on maternity leave, has created a site where parents can view student artwork. Ms. H. will post an example from a given grade each day. It will give you a great idea of the different media and kinds of artwork our students are engaged with. You can log in and sign up to see the work. Parents can join on remind.com/join/spraguevi or text @spraguevi to 81010. If they are asked to enter a code, they just enter @spraguevi. It is also possible to download the app if you prefer. If you have any questions about this site, please contact Ms. H at holzapfelk@wellesleyps.org. We are continuing to partner with the Wellesley Recreation Department to provide after school club offerings. The next list of offerings will be available soon. Kindergarten Roundup (AKA registration) will be held on Feb. 10 from 3:30-6:00 and also on March 5 (Sat) from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. If you know any families with incoming KDG students, please encourage them to come to the Roundup or contact the registrar’s office at CO. Multicultural Night We are excited to announce Multicultural Night at Sprague on Tuesday, March 15. We hope many families will be willing to share a little about their heritage with our school community at the event. Look for announcements in the Sprague Pulse and sign up sheets. Participating families will be given a large tri-fold display board to display information about a country of origin and some of the traditions they may hold dear. Families can opt to bring some food or dress in traditional dress if they have access to those items. We look forward to sharing our rich cultural heritage with one another and celebrating our many cultures. When I first came to Sprague, Ms. Stabnick told me of the phrase, “Many cultures, one school,” that was shared at a past event. This holds just as true today. We hope you will join us in celebrating the many cultures at Sprague. We are most certainly, ONE SCHOOL, with a strong sense of pride and commitment to our community!
