Dear Sprague Community,

November certainly is a month to reflect on all of our blessings. As a grateful community, it is important for us to find ways to teach our children to be grateful and help others when they can. We have 9 large bins FULL of candy to donate to troops via the Wellesley Dental Group Candy Drive. We will accept candy up until 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Thank you so much to those who donated and wrote letters to include in the packages. Our PTO Community Service committee has also worked to coordinate donations to Cradles to Crayons this month.

Our very generous PTO has again purchased Dreambox mathematics software for all students at Sprague. Students have access to Dreambox both at school and at home. There have been some glitches this year with logins and access codes. Please see the letter below with instructions for home use. Our math department strongly encourages home use of Dreambox to strengthen foundational number concepts that are necessary for more complicated mathematics.

Last week, we reminded students of the “Choose to be Nice” pledge that we all made in September. We talked about kindness at our school gathering and read a story about how everyone has an imaginary ‘bucket.’ We all do better when our buckets are full. Our buckets stay full when others are kind to us and we do our best. Our buckets can empty when others don’t treat us well or when don’t treat others well. Students in 5JD left ‘kindness cards’ in each class to try fill some buckets that day!
