Dear Sprague Community,

We have about 8 very large tubs of candy to donate to the Wellesley Candy Drive. It will be delivered to Wellesley Dental Group tomorrow and added to an even larger pile of candy that they will ship to troops serving overseas. They generally add goody bags with toothbrushes and toothpaste to the shipment. We are also collecting gently used items for the Cradles to Crayons drive. You may notice 5th graders and other young helpers collecting items in car line at drop off time this week. They are collecting gently worn clothes, gently used toys and books, and new diapers. Many thanks to all who have donated to both drives.

As a community, I know you join me in wishing to teach our children the power to giving and a commitment to service within the community. The month of November is often a time when we reflect on our good fortune. We are lucky to be part of a caring community, to enjoy a beautiful school building, and to be working with your wonderful children.

In Baby News…..Mr. Marder and his wife had their first child last week. Jake Marder weighed in at 6 pounds. The parents are super happy! Mr. Marder will be home with the baby until Nov. 20th.

As the weather gets cooler, please label your child’s belongings. We find many items outside or in our lost and found and would like to be able to return them to their owners. As the weather changes, we will still do our best to have outdoor recess two times per day, so it is important that children are dressed for the weather. We generally go outdoors as long as the temperature is above 20 degrees.
