Dear Sprague Community,

Although I know I should reflect on that for which I am grateful on a regular basis, I am reminded to do so when Thanksgiving approaches. I’d like to take this chance to thank you all once again, for sharing your children with us at Sprague. They brighten our days and give true meaning to the work we do teaching. As a faculty, we are also grateful for your support. I know our teachers feel appreciated by Sprague families. We are able to enhance our educational offerings through your generosity. Sprague families are generous with their time and with their contributions to our PTO. With such a strong PTO, we are fortunate to have enrichment programs, funding for field trips, and events that strengthen our community even more. I am proud to be part of this wonderful community and proud of our teachers and our students each and every day.

I plan to share information about the new state accountability system using MCAS scores at the December PTO meeting. If you are interested in learning about the new system and how we use results to plan for improvements, please plan to attend. The MCAS presentation will be first at 8:45 AM in the cafeteria, followed by a working PTO meeting. The December PTO meeting falls on Dec. 13, which is also the day of the Cookie Walk.

For new families, the Cookie Walk is an annual event at Sprague. It is a PTO sponsored event and parents will be asked to bake cookies…..LOTS of COOKIES! There are other fun things go do during the Cookie Walk. It takes place after school from 3:15-5:00 PM. Look for more information in the Pulse and mark your calendar for Dec. 13th.

Another annual event is the Day of Play. This is a school-based event in which students have the opportunity to CREATE during the school day. We will send more information about this year’s Day of Play in December. Please consider saving recycled items that students could use to create something fun. We will be accepting donations of recycled items like boxes, containers, yarn, tape, and more in December.

Lastly, a HUGE thank you to all who donated to the Candy Drive and the Cradles to Crayons drive this month.

Reminder: Car line often takes longer when the weather is colder. This is often due to the obvious fact that more folks drive to school when it gets cold. It is a good idea to allow extra time for drop off in the morning as a car that turns into our driveway at 8:25 will likely need at least 5 minutes to get to the drop off point due to traffic volume. Please try to arrive between 8:15 and 8:25 so that your child arrives to school on time. Drivers must stay in the car at all times. Drop off is only allowed on by sidewalk inside the cones. Please  do not drop off students by the cross walk by the entrance or on Oak St. Drop off and pick up are never allowed on Oak St. Thank you for your help.
