Dear Sprague Community,

A HUGE thank you to Ms. Flitsch and all the parent volunteers who made our fabulous Field Day possible yesterday. The weather couldn’t have been better and we all had a great day! For the record, the score of the Whiffleball game was 31-13 (Teachers won).

We had great participation for our last Walk to School Day of the year today with 240 participants! Way to go Sprague-ers!

As we plan for next year, I’d like to let you know of a few changes that will take place in staffing at Sprague. Second grade teacher, Nancy Bentley, will move up to teach 5thgrade next year. Former second grade teacher, Bevin Hale, will be returning to Sprague to teach 2ndgrade again. She has been a math coach this year at another school in Wellesley. We will be adding another ISS teacher next year. Jessica Trofatter will join the Sprague staff. She is currently an ISS teacher at Wellesley Middle School and also has a strong background in elementary instruction. She is scheduled to teach students in ISS grades 1 and 2. Occupational Therapist Jenny Cosenza will be leaving to spend more time at home with her children. We wish her all the best.

We will have a “Move Up” time on Wednesday, June 12thin the afternoon, so students can meet the teaching team for next year’s grade level. Parents receive the name of next year’s teacher when they update their information in the Parent Portal of Powerschool in August. Grade level supply lists and a grade level welcome letter will be posted in the “Back to School” folder on our website in early July.

Green Team News

On the heels of the litter-less lunch’s success, the book swap/drive is set up and in swing. This week, literacy specialists are bringing their students through to pick out a book to keep. Beginning June 3, librarians Sara and Sammy are having all other students choose a book to take home during library class. Following that, remaining books will be donated to More Than Words, an organization that works with the most vulnerable young adults in Greater Boston: those who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school.
