Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating starting this evening?  Tonight begins the Jewish holiday of Shavuot (Sha-voo-oat). Shavuot is the Jewish festival that commemorates the receiving of the Torah on Mount Sinai.  The word Shavuot literally means “weeks, since it takes place exactly 7 weeks after Passover. On the eve of Shavuot, many Jews stay up all night studying the Torah. The book of Ruth (from the Hebrew Bible) is traditionally read, and people celebrate by eating dairy foods. There are students at WMS who will be observing Shavuot this next week.  We wish all people at WMS observing this holiday, “Chag Sameach.”

Have a good day everyone!
