MCAS Civics Session 1 is today for Grade 8. At this time all 8th graders should be in Advisory. All 6th and 7th graders should be in Block C. The testing period will last from approximately 7:45 – 9:00 a.m. As a reminder, no iPads should be used outside of the test itself. Time outside of the classroom for grade 8 should be highly monitored by teacher discretion and kept to an absolute minimum. Grades 6 and 7: please be very quiet in the halls when passing between periods. The library will be closed for MCAS this morning. Bells will remain on throughout the entirety of the day.
It’s time for another Library Question of the Week! “Which assistant principal has worked at WMS longer?” Submit your answer by scanning the QR code outside the library. A winner will be announced on Friday. Good luck!
We are opening live auditions for the Grade 8 Completion Assembly this year. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, June 10th from 2:40 – 3:15 pm in the Auditorium for interested 8th grade students. Please sign up in the Main Office for an audition slot. If you are interested, but you have concerns and/or conflicts with the date, please let us know. Come prepared to perform your song, artistic performance, and/or musical instrument. If you have questions, see Dr. Ito, Mr. Adams, or the Main Office.
Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be celebrating this month? June is LGBTQ Pride Month, established to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals have had on the world. Pride began as a recognized day in 1970 in New York City, commemorating the one year anniversary of LGBT people resisting the raid and arrest of LGBT friends and family that occurred at the Stonewall Inn. This practice of arrest was not uncommon because being LGBTQ was not legally allowed in any way. Today, LGBTQ groups celebrate this special time with memorials for those lost as well as with celebrations and group gatherings culminating in a Pride Day parade in cities around the country and world. We wish all people at WMS observing this joyous occasion a “Happy Pride.”
6th grade students in Ms. Moore’s tutoring program, please report directly to the library after school today.
The bus to Boston will leave at 3:30 today. The late bus in Wellesley also leaves at 3:30. All students need to listen for the PA announcements for their departure from WMS.
Have a good day everyone!
Please note that the daily announcements are sometimes subject to change during the school day. When this happens the announcements will be updated on the website and on the video screen in the WMS lobby, but a new email will not be sent.
