Today is a half day. Teachers will be in meetings so all students must leave the building at 11:21. There will be no Wellesley late bus. If you are a Boston student, you must return at 1:20 for the 1:30 departure (sharp). No students should be in the building without supervision determined in advance.
All students who are going into town today, please remember that you are representing yourself, your families, neighborhoods, and our school. You have been given the privilege of independence and you must show that you can manage it. Please be respectful to each other as well as to store employees, other shoppers, and clean up after yourselves, especially after you eat.
The Spirit Wear Store will be open at the Donizetti entrance from 11:20 until noon today.
Are you curious about what some people in our WMS community will be observing starting today? Today begins the Christian observance of Lent. Lent begins 40 days before Easter on Ash Wednesday. You may see some people wearing ashes on their foreheads to be reminded that we are only on this earth temporarily and that it is our spirit/soul that hopes for eternal life. Lent today is meant to prepare your spirit for Easter by making sacrifices (usually giving up something you enjoy eating or doing), asking forgiveness, and prayer. People who observe Lent often do not eat meat on Fridays during these 40 days. We wish all people at WMS observing to have a peaceful Lenten season.
