A-Catemy Awards
For families new to Sprague, I’d like to explain our annual celebration of great books called the A-Catemy Awards. It will take place on March 1stat 9:00 AM. Students vote for favorite books within categories, much like the Academy Awards (or the Oscars). It is always as close to Dr. Seuss’ birthday as possible (March 2) as that is National Read Across America Day—thus the name A-Catemy Awards (like Cat in the Hat). Students are invited to dress in fancy clothes and walk our ‘red carpet.’ Parents are invited to come take pictures like ‘paparazzi,’ or ‘mama-razzi.’
It’s a fun event, so mark your calendar if you’d like to join us!
Open House
Our annual Open House day is Friday, March 22 from 8:00 AM-9:30 AM. As it is an open house, parents can come at any time during the time window and do not need to stay for the entire hour and half. Classrooms will have student work to share. Children are the guides on this day. They will show their families around the school and share work. We plan to have an Art Show and display student artwork for our Open House this year as well. At 9:00 AM, we will have a short school gathering with a sing along. We hope you can come!
Please remember, this is not a day for individual parent conferences. Your child’s teacher will send a sign up for this. Parent Conferences are scheduled for March 27, April 2, and April 3 between 12:40 and 3:00 PM.
