Dear Sprague Families,

It has been a long time coming, but the day has arrived….the solar eclipse!

Thank you for supporting our eclipse festival by joining us and completing permission slips to ensure our dismissal process runs smoothly.  I would like to send a special thank you to Carolyn Kornwitz, Creative Arts and Sciences Director, Sprague PTO, Margaret Flitsch, and many other parents!  Both Carolyn and Margaret actively worked to plan, coordinate, and ensure a good time for all while the Sprague PTO supplied all the safety glasses for students/staff/families.  We are so very excited!

The below are final details outlining the afternoon’s events on Monday, April 8th:

  • As a school, we will be heading outside at 2:45 pm to the Sprague field to view the beginning phases of the eclipse – we will make an announcement at that time

  • Students will come outside with all dismissal/packed up belongings and the students will place belongings on the dedicated space identified with teacher name – once backpacks are dropped off, please proceed to viewing area with teacher designated sign

  • There are very limited dismissals, which means will we have close to a full house in attendance!

  • All necessary glasses (and glow bracelets) will be distributed prior to coming outside

  • PLEASE REMIND STUDENTS (and adults) THAT ALL GLASSES NEED TO BE ON/WORN before viewing the eclipse

  • Lisa Fox, Science Director, will be narrating the eclipse process live from 2:50 pm to 3:05 pm-ish

  • From 3:05 pm to 3:27 pm, there will be music and intermittent freeze dancing in assigned class locations – Margaret Flitsch be DJing the event

  • At 3:27 pm, everyone will be asked to be seated and the countdown for the main, main event will begin

  • At 3:30 pm, the festival will be announced and everyone can then move from their assigned spots

  • The festival ends at 4:00 pm – families can leave at any time prior to 4:00 pm – but please ensure all students are picked up from the field no later than 4:00 pm (there is NO after school transportation outside of the regular 3:05 pm dismissal time)
