Schofield School

Go Hawks

Dear Schofield Families,

We had a busy week at Schofield that ended with indoor recess.  While it’s great to get the kids outside for recess, I do appreciate seeing the collaboration and creativity from students during indoor recess.  They build, write, play, draw and more!  I took some photos today to share.

Standards Based Report Cards:
Our midyear Standards Based Report Cards (SBRC) are available as of 3:00PM today.  Parents and caregivers should login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access their child’s report.  A standards-based report card tells specifically how a child is performing based on the grade-level, end-of-year standards listed and indicates which areas may need additional attention. All teachers at a grade level measure student learning against a consistent set of academic criteria.  It is important to note that markings (meeting the standard, progressing toward the standard, beginning to progress toward the standard, and not yet demonstrating progress) do not translate to letter grades.

Please reference this WPS Standards Based Report Card website which has a lot of useful information (and videos)!  A few other important things to note:

  • Paper copies of the report card are no longer provided by the school. Please click here for directions on how to access your child’s report.

  • If you need help logging into PowerSchool, please contact portal@wellesleyps.org for login assistance.

  • Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions about their report.

  • A FAQ document is available for families.

Early Literacy Screening (DIBELS):
Parents and caregivers of students in grades K-3 who have scored, “well-below benchmark” on the early literacy DIBELS assessment may access their child’s DIBELS report through the PowerSchool Parent Portal as well.  These reports will include both the fall and winter data so families can easily see their child’s progress.  Next week, translation guides for these reports will be available for families who receive translation services. In June and moving forward, the translated versions will appear at the same time as the reports and report cards. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

THANK YOU!
Thanks to our amazing PTO, the Acton Discovery Museum visited our fifth grade classes today.  This hands-on learning experience really complimented their unit on the states of matter.  One fifth grader was bursting with excitement about how cool the program was and we know this wouldn’t happen without the support and generosity of our PTO!

I apologize for sending the Schofield Scoop a little later tonight.  Our School Messenger site was down before I left Schofield and I didn’t want to be late for my step daughter’s basketball game.  She recently scored her 1,000th point (in only her junior year) and was recognized before the start of the game tonight.  More basketball is in store for our family tomorrow.  Have a wonderful weekend and we will see everyone back at Schofield on Monday.

Best,
Jordan
