Schofield School

Go Hawks

Dear Schofield Families,

It has been a great week here at Schofield with the start of our new breakfast program.  THANK YOU to our partners at Whitons Culinary Group as well as our School Site Council, PTO volunteers and staff for your time and effort planning and launching this program.  In just two days, we served 145 breakfast meals.  We are working on ways to make the operation a bit more efficient in the morning but we are thrilled with the kickoff.

On behalf of our staff here at Schofield, I would like to thank our PTO for providing lunch on Wednesday. This was such a thoughtful gesture to support teachers while they are in the midst of writing report cards.  Lunch was delicious and we remain so grateful for your support.

My family has a big weekend ahead with Josephine and Vivian (10) performing in The Wizard of Oz at Mass Bay Community College.   They have been rehearsing for months and their excitement is palpable.  My nerves are as well!

Below you will find a message from WPS regarding a proposal for updating the elementary redistricting map.  As you will see, the areas of interest do not include the Schofield district, however I do want to make sure you are all informed.

Stay warm this weekend!

Proposal for Updating Elementary Redistricting Map

I want to be sure that you are aware that Friday afternoon, the district sent out a message to all families regarding a proposed update to the elementary school redistricting map that was approved in February 2020. Because the redistricting plan was approved by the School Committee so far in advance, there was a commitment to review the map and propose any changes before it is implemented in August 2024.

At Tuesday’s School Committee meeting, the WPS administration will recommend changes in school assignment to areas along the Fiske/Hunnewell boundary line as well as the Bates/Hardy boundary line. The slideshow for the meeting has been posted, and additional detail on the areas of interest can be found here. The meeting agenda is here)

If you would like to provide feedback to the School Committee before an updated map is approved, you may participate in public comment at the January 23 and January 30 meetings, email the School Committee (school_committee@wellesleyps.org), or attend the following public forums:

January 25, 7pm: Redistricting Forum #1, Kingsbury Room, Wellesley Police Station

January 29, 7pm: Redistricting Forum #2, Zoom (Link to Register)
