Schofield School

Go Hawks

Hello Schofield Families,

It is hard to believe it is June. Today, kindergarten families visited to celebrate their hard work this year.  It was fun to visit the three classrooms and observe the special moments that were captured and shared in slideshows. I was reminded of how much they grow and mature in their first year.

Later in the morning, I stopped over to Hale Reservation where our fifth graders were wrapping up their three-day retreat with students from Upham and Sprague.  Students participated in team challenges that included outdoor survival scenarios and rope-climbing activities.  Students connected with one another and had a ball.  On my drive back to school, I thought about how such meaningful friendships and connections begin in kindergarten and strengthen over their six years at Schofield.  By the time they head off to middle school, our students have spent more than half of their years at Schofield making it really feel like a second home and like family.

Monday – Wellesley Police
On Monday, June 5th, Officer Poirier will be transporting a couple of Schofield Hawks to school.  This was an auction prize and one that they will remember for a long time. You can expect that the lights and sirens will be on but we want you to know that everything is okay.

The Schofield 5K Race, Fun Run and Fun Fair
The Schofield 5K Race, Fun Run and Fun Fair is THIS SUNDAY!   We still need TWELVE volunteers for the games, concessions and prizes.   Older siblings, grandparents, college students and neighbors are all welcome to volunteer.  Sign up to help HERE! Thank you to the PTO and all of the families who have helped coordinate this event.  My kids and I are looking forward to it!

Author Jacqueline Davies
Thank you to our PTO and the Filoon Family for bringing popular children’s book author Jacqueline Davies to Schofield on Thursday.  She is most well known for writing The Lemonade War which we have in our school library and in many classrooms.  Students in grades 1-4 learned about how an author can make a character feel real and how a plot can be developed to keep the reader reading.  She was truly inspiring!

Last Week of School
Students’ last day of school is scheduled for Thursday, June 15th with dismissal at 12:00PM.  For this reason, Wednesday, June 14th is a FULL day of school.  Please be sure to update PickUp Patrol for these two days so that we can make sure to dismiss students safely.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!
