Dear Sprague/Hunnewell,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful vacation. It is lovely to have the students back and the routine up and running again.
We kicked off the new year with a brisk walk/roll to school on Friday! As always, thank you to the parent volunteers and Margaret Flitsch for their dedication to the monthly initiative. Thank you to the 210 – wow! – students/families that braved the cold January air!

Sprague Annual Safety Training with WPD

Annually, WPS staff engage in a safety training facilitated by the Wellesley Police Department
-
This is an internal training for staff only and is done after school hours
-
Having said this, it is important to me to make you aware of this annual training and to ask for your support specifically pertaining to the playground during after school hours
-
On Wednesday, January 31st the training will be held beginning at 1:00 pm inside of Sprague
-
The training involves use of “blank shots” in order for all staff to be familiar with the sound
-
This training will be held indoors but never do we want students to hear anything that may cause them alarm – therefore, asking for the playground to remain empty between the hours of 1:00 to 3:00 pm would be most appreciated
-
As always, it pains me that these training sessions are part of our routines. Having said that, they are also important for awareness, safety, security, and protocols during an emergency event
