Hello, Upham and Hunnewell Families,

As I write you this letter, my heart is filled with gratitude and warmth, much like the comforting embrace of a well-worn, beloved storybook. I love reading children’s books and the simple but deeply layered meanings built within the story. Winnie the Pooh is a beautiful example.

Winnie the Pooh once said, “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.” Looking back, the small moments have shaped the fabric of Upham. Like Pooh and his friends, I have learned the importance of friendship, kindness, and the simple joy of being together.

As we live each day, remember Pooh’s timeless wisdom: “This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In its place is something that you left behind. Let it be something good.” It’s a gentle reminder that each day is a gift, a blank page waiting to be written with the ink of our actions and choices.

What you do today is important for yourselves, your families, and all of us who are part of this shared journey. In the tapestry of our school community, every stitch matters, and your influence and care have been the threads that bind us together. Your sacrifices and unwavering support have helped shape us in every facet of school life.

Pooh’s words resonate deeply with the truth that tomorrow is not promised, and each day is a fleeting moment in the grand tapestry of life. “When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In its place is something that you left behind.” Let it be something good—a legacy of love, compassion, and enduring friendship.

Thank you! May our days ahead be filled with moments that make our hearts swell with joy, just like the pages of a cherished book.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Dare to Dream,

Mr. Dees
