Schofield School

Go Hawks

Dear Schofield Families,

It was awesome to see so many families walking, riding and rolling to school on Wednesday.  The first Wednesday of each month will be a Walk, Ride or Roll to School Day moving forward.  We look forward to getting some exercise, taking in the fresh air and helping our environment.

We wrapped up today with our Schofield School Spirit Day!

PBIS Update:
As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, we have been focusing on students demonstrating expected behaviors during lunch.  Some of these include using walking feet, raising their hands if they need something and turning off their voices when the lights are turned off.  Students have been doing an outstanding job and MANY star stickers have been awarded to acknowledge and reinforce these expected behaviors. Today, I invited some third and fourth grade students who have been demonstrating STAR Behavior consistently to enjoy lunch in my office.  There were lots of laughs and I learned so much about how they got their names, who is in their families and what they like to do for fun.  I look forward to continuing to enjoy lunch with STAR students in the weeks and months ahead.

MCAS:
Back in the spring, students in third, fourth and fifth grade were assessed using the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS).  Your child’s results were mailed today and should arrive at your home soon. MCAS is an important assessment that provides valuable insight into your child’s academic progress and helps us make informed instructional decisions.

This assessment provides us with a snapshot of your child’s academic performance at a specific point in time.  It is important to remember that these scores may not reflect the full scope of their abilities or progress.  MCAS is part of a balanced assessment system we use in Wellesley to ensure that all students are making effective progress.  If you have concerns or questions about your child’s performance on MCAS, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We look forward to seeing your children back at Schofield on Tuesday.  Have a fantastic long weekend.
