Dear Families,

I’m writing to you this afternoon to announce the new Interim Director of School Counseling for the 2023-2024 school year.  I am happy to report that Margaret “Meg” Walendin has agreed to be our Interim Director.  Many of you know Meg because she has been a counselor here for the past 13 years.

Margaret Walendin began her tenure at Wellesley in 2010 after working for three years as a school counselor in Somerville, MA.  Margaret graduated from the public schools in Winchester, MA and earned her M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after completing her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Brown University.

Margaret is dual certified in guidance counseling and adjustment counseling.  In 2022, Margaret also completed the MSAA Leadership Licensure Program (LLP) to obtain her License as Director of Counseling.

When not working, Margaret enjoys running in the summers, skiing in the winters, and enjoying family time with her husband and two daughters.

Last week I included our outgoing Director, Dana Plunkett’s, note to her students detailing how she would still be able to write letters of recommendation for all of this year’s seniors from that caseload.

I know Meg will be communicating with the students on her caseload to let them know who will be covering for her this year. She will also detail for them how she will ensure all the letters for those seniors will be written as well.

This winter we will be letting everyone know about the open process we will use to hire our full time director beyond this school year.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy these next several weeks before the fall semester begins.

Best,

Jamie
