Schofield School

Go Hawks

Hello Schofield Families,

We are very proud of our fifth graders who gathered at the Temple Beth Elohim this week to participate in a community service project.  Together, they prepared 80 meals and sorted, folded and labeled over 300 items of clothing for Boston’s homeless. And they did so with great enthusiasm and dedication.  Thank you to all of the families who supported this project as well.

Thank You PTO!
Our PTO has been very busy with so many community events.  Thank you to everyone who has helped in big and small ways.  The Garden Club organized last Sunday’s campus clean up and it was clear how much our community cares about Schofield.   Families helped rake leaves, pick up trash, trim foliage and plant seeds. It was fun to get our hands a little dirty.  In addition, PTO has coordinated staff appreciation goodies, Family Dodgeball Night and an auction!  On behalf of Schofield staff, thank you for the unbelievable support!

Bingo for Books:
We are looking forward to this fun, PTO-sponsored event on Tuesday, April 11th from 6:30-7:30 in the Schofield gym.  This is a free event open to all Schofield families, but is not a drop-off event. Come and play bingo and win books – what could be better?  We hope to see you there.

Warren Park Request:
The Recreation Department requested that I ask families to remind their children who gather at Warren Park on early release days to be mindful that there are two departments working inside the building along with some programs being run there as well.

Boston Marathon:
The Boston Marathon is fast approaching and I am sure many in our community are gearing up for this event.  We have some Schofield community members running and know they would appreciate extra encouragement when they run through Wellesley.  If you or a family member are running and would like for us to include your name, bib number, and any fundraising information in our next communication, please email me at hoffmanj@wellesleyps.org by Tuesday, April 11th at 8:00am.  While I will be watching closer to home, I look forward to cheering on Schofield runners.  To those running, may the wind be at your backs!

Save the Date:
This year’s 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14th in the evening.  On Monday, the fifth grade teachers, parent volunteers and I are meeting to work out the details which we will share as soon as we can. I understand this to be a very special milestone for Schofield Hawks and we look forward to continuing this special tradition. Stay tuned for more details to come!

To those celebrating Passover and/or Easter, we hope you have a lovely holiday.

Sincerely,

Jordan
