Schofield School

Go Hawks

Dear Schofield Families,

February 10th marks the start of the Lunar New Year.  Today, our kindergartners marched in Schofield’s annual Lunar New Year Parade led by some of our fifth graders. As many of you know, Lunar New Year is observed by various Asian cultures around the world.  It begins on February 10th and ends with the Lantern Festival on February 24th.  Today, classes lined the hallways to cheer and welcome the new year with hope and joy.  Wishing all who celebrate a happy and prosperous Lunar New Year!

5th Grade Author Visit
Our fifth graders also enjoyed a visit from author, Rob Buyea, today.  He shared about how he gets his ideas for books and about his writing process.  He then joined students in their writer’s workshop to help them develop characters for their own stories.  Rob Buyea is most well known for writing, Because of Mr. Terupt.  I read this aloud to my own children a few years ago and highly recommend it!  Thanks to the PTO for bringing Rob Buyea to Schofield today.

The Schofield PTO email comes out each Sunday at 5pm and communicates all the highlights of the week, upcoming events and opportunities to get involved. If you have not been receiving the Schofield PTO weekly Sunday email please send an email to Schofieldpto@gmail.com to make sure you are added to the list.

SHARE THE LOVE Food Drive
Our food drive is underway and our students have collected 224 items for donation to the Wellesley Food Pantry.  I imagine that many families are going shopping for Superbowl Sunday and we encourage you to pick up one of the below items to help us reach our whole-school goal of 340 items!
