Superintendent’s Bulletin

October 10, 2025

Dear Colleagues,
I hope you each had a productive week. I’m guessing the frost on your cars this morning seemed strange after eighty-degree days last weekend. Another reminder that New England weather can turn on a dime!
Last night, the High School had its back-to-school night, which was exceptionally well attended. Thanks to Dr. Chisum and the entire WHS team for welcoming our community and speaking about our work with such expertise and passion. My wife reminded me that we were attending our last back-to-school night as parents which, admittedly, left a lump in my throat.
I wanted to be sure to share the wonderful news that for the fourth time, our WHS colleague Kevin McDonald has been named a national semifinalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award. Please join me in congratulating Kevin on this well-deserved honor!

The timing of this announcement seems most appropriate as we head into an incredible weekend of A Cappella music at WHS on October 17th and 18th. If you have never attended, please consider coming out to support our students!

As our week comes to a close and we all head into a well-deserved long weekend, my thoughts tonight are with our many colleagues who are balancing their professional roles with challenges in their personal lives. Whether caring for aging parents, dealing with medical issues within their families, or supporting their own students through their own struggles, I am so grateful that our colleagues still have the ability to bring a high level of care and skill to work each day. I’m sending strength to each of you as you continue to balance your personal and professional roles.
Thanks for what you each do for our students every day and have a great weekend!
Best, David

Hidden in Plain Sight: Understanding Antisemitism Today – 10/23 7:30-9:00pm

Antisemitism shows up in many ways – sometimes openly, sometimes in disguise. In this conversation, we’ll learn how to recogize it, talk about its impact, and explore how each of us can help build a more respectful and inclusive community. Join Dr. Daniel Osborn of Project Mosaics in Part 2 of our Antisemitism series, this time examining antisemitism as shapeshifter & learning how you can confront it.
