Dear Colleagues,
I hope you each had a productive week. We had our first snow day yesterday, which turned out to be a bit of a bust as the forecasted severity of the storm never really materialized. You likely know that my decision-making process to make these calls includes monitoring the forecasts closely, consulting with town and district staff, and checking in with many other area superintendents. I don’t take these decisions lightly and I never want to call for a closure needlessly. At the same time, I feel like I must err on the side of caution for our students and staff with the best information available. (I just wish Mother Nature could be a tad more predictable in the future!)
I wanted to thank the staff of Hunnewell and WHS, who allowed two teams of educators (including me) to visit their classrooms on Tuesday as part of our ongoing “agency-based” walkthroughs with Tony Reibel. It takes a great deal of trust to open up one’s classroom to observers and I am deeply appreciative to the staff who did so this week, along with the staff who took part as observers.
This is a big weekend at Wellesley High School as our students bring to life the classic musical, Anything Goes. Special thanks to our Director, Skylar Grossman, for leading his first show in his new role. Please check out the Performing Arts website for ticket information.
You’ll see information in this week’s bulletin on the blood drive being sponsored by the Wellesley Educators Association and the WPS Fitness and Health Department on March 19th. I hope you’ll consider joining me in giving the gift of life to someone in need.
And, finally, Superbowl Weekend is here! While I’m disappointed that our Patriots aren’t playing, I’ll be rooting for the Eagles to pull off an upset.
Thanks for what you do each day across our district and have a great weekend.
Best, David
