Dear Colleagues,
I hope you each had a productive week as our year winds down and we look toward our summer recess beginning next Friday. I want to thank everyone for making our WHS graduation last week so special. Despite the forecasts, we ended up having a beautiful evening with a cool breeze and we took full advantage of our new lights on the field as well as our new bathroom facilities. Congratulations to math teacher Nicholas Miller on being named the teacher of the year at WHS!
I also want to acknowledge some very special colleagues who are retiring this year:
Kat Bernklow, Director of Student Services
Esther Briskin, WMS Instructional Library Assistant
Carol Campbell, WHS Math Support Specialist
Toni Carlson, Director of Library and Innovation
Jaclyn Grignaffini, WMS Behavior Technician
Kathleen Hood, Schofield Kindergarten Teacher
Brenda Iarossi, WHS Perrin House Assistant
Shari Johnson, High School Nurse
Brian Kelly, WMS Technology & Engineering Teacher
Karen McVay, Sprague Teaching Assistant
Vixen Peare, Sprague Spanish Teacher
Karen Poole, Hardy 3rd Grade Teacher
Ranjani Sriram, WHS Instructional Technology Specialist.
Please join me in congratulating our colleagues and thanking them for their service to WPS!
As you complete grading, classroom cleanup, and share farewells in the coming week, I hope you also take a moment and reflect with pride on the importance of what you each do on behalf of students in our district. There is no more important job and you do make a difference. I feel privileged to serve with you and, on behalf of a grateful community, thank you for your service. Have a great weekend!
Best, David
