Dear Colleagues,

I hope everyone traveled safely to work today.  I’m not really a big fan of snow before I have recycled my pumpkins from Halloween!

I want to give a huge shout-out to the staff and students for their amazing production of Spamalot last weekend.  In particular, I applaud Kara Sullivan for her wonderful debut leading our students as our new WHS Drama Director.  Of course, Mike LaCava, Kevin McDonald, Steve Scott, Brian McManimon, Janet Sozio, Chad Weirick, and Allison Madden deserve our thanks as well.  I love that a whole new generation of students has been introduced to Monty Python!

On the athletic fields, this is a busy weekend for Wellesley teams competing for state titles.  If you have some time, please come out and cheer for our boys’ soccer team, girls’ swim & dive team, and boys’ and girls’ cross country teams.  Please refer to our WHS Athletics page for more details. Go Raiders!!

Thank you for your work in support of our students each day and have a great weekend!

Best regards,
David Lussier

Boston Marathon Entries Available

The Selectmen have recently adopted a policy on how invitational entries for the Boston Marathon are awarded.

The policy provides two entries each to police and fire in recognition of the major role they play in the success of the marathon annually.  While they have run the marathon in the past, this policy clarifies the number of bibs available.  New this year is the opportunity for other town employees outside of those departments to run the race.  Attached is the approved policy, which sets aside two entries for employees or residents.  Depending on the applications received, the policy sets out a method to choose those runners, who must agree to raise at least $4,000 for the Town’s War Memorial scholarship.  The remaining entries go to charities that contribute to Wellesley, and they too must raise at least this amount for the charity that chooses them to run on their behalf.
