Colleagues,

I hope you each had a productive week.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, we held vaccination clinics for students ages 5-11.  The response was overwhelming and approximately 700 slots across both days were reserved within a matter of hours.  Thanks to our amazing WPS nurses and Pelmeds Pharmacy team, these clinics were a huge success and we are hoping to run a third clinic to help meet the ongoing demand.  Vaccinations are an absolutely critical component of transitioning out of the pandemic, particularly as we head into the holiday season and winter months.  With that in mind, it’s also important that we have accurate data on the vaccination rates of our staff within each building.  If you have not yet completed the staff vaccination survey for this school year, please do so as soon as possible as these data will help us continue to assess our collective safety.  (Staff survey link.)

Our Staff Professional Development day is coming up on Monday, November 29th.  We are very excited to reinforce our theme of “Equity and Excellence” for the day, which will be kicked off with keynote speaker Zaretta Hammond.  Please see the important details for the day that have been sent out from the Office of Teaching and Learning.  We have few opportunities to come together as a PreK-12 staff during the year, and a great deal of time and preparation has gone into making this day both safe and responsive to our key areas of focus.  Thanks in advance for everyone’s full participation in what I know will be an important day of learning for our entire team.

Finally, as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday next week, I wanted to express my sincere thanks to you all for your tireless work each day in support of our students.  I hope you each have a safe and restful holiday with family and friends.

-David
