The WPS Performing Arts Department is excited to announce that 39 Wellesley High School music students were selected for the Eastern District MMEA (Massachusetts Music Educators Association) Ensembles. More than 900 music students from schools across Eastern Massachusetts auditioned to be part of these ensembles on Saturday, November 4 at Milton High School. Students have been preparing for these auditions over the past several months.
WHS Directors Dr. Kevin McDonald, Mr. Steven Scott and Dr. Sergey Khanukaev as well as IVEP Lesson Program faculty helped students prepare for auditions.
Students who receive a score in the top 50% of their area are eligible to audition for the MMEA All-State Ensembles. These auditions will take place at the end of January. Wellesley is fortunate to have 19 out of the 39 students accepted be recommended for the All-State Auditions.
