Dear Colleagues,
I hope you each had a productive week. The fall seems to be flying by as we head into the final week of October with darker mornings and earlier sunsets.
This week at our School Committee meeting, school leaders from PAWS and our elementary schools shared their school improvement plans for SY2025-26. This year these plans are focused on instructional goals in ELA, Math, and Science. While having clear goals is important, it’s our practice that changes outcomes for students and our data are only as valuable as this information helps us target supports for students. Thanks to all of our building leaders and staff for your collective efforts to breathe life into our school improvement efforts.
This is homecoming weekend in Wellesley! Things will kick off tonight with a home football game vs. Natick under the lights at 6PM. On Saturday, we host a Community Day from 11AM-2PM at the Hunnewell Fields with a number of activities for kids, run by our clubs and sports teams. Finally, the festivities will conclude on Saturday evening with a Homecoming Dance at WHS from 6:30PM-9:00PM. (Please note that this is a ticketed event.) Many thanks to our staff and parent volunteers who will be busy throughout the weekend to run and support these events.
Finally, I want to give a shout-out to WMS 8th Grade ELA teacher, Abby Wasserman, who was recently published in the New York Times, “Tiny Love Story” column for her short piece about her son turning five. Parents, I’m guessing this reflection will resonate with you as much as it did for me. Thank you for this gift, Abby!
